‘Shells Belles’ raise local brain tumour awareness

“SHELLS BELLES” raise awareness and funds for Brain Tumour Research in memory of friend Michelle Klust

Can your business help?

Michelle Klust was diagnosed with an aggressive high grade, rare brain tumour in September 2016 and died in February 2018.   Michelle’s friends have now formed a fundraising group called “Shells Belles” in her memory and the first goal is to raise at least £7000 for Brain Tumour Research.

Alison Theobald who has been friends with Michelle since their childhood said There will be a series of fundraising events based in and around Weymouth designed to get everyone involved.   We are currently putting the first event together which will be an afternoon tea at Willowbed Hall Chickerell, to kick off the fund raising.   The £7000  target will enable two of  “Shells Belles”  to run in the London Marathon.  Joanne Farmer and Kelly Wood both aged 43 needs a minimum of  £7000 to be eligible to run for Brain Tumour Research in the London Marathon in 2020   – which is an incredible undertaking.”

Brain tumours are indiscriminate; they can affect anyone at any age. What’s more, they kill more children and  young adults under the age of 40 than any other cancer but historically just 1% of the national spend on cancer research has been allocated to this devastating disease.

Michelle Klust was aged just 41 when she passed away and is a mother of two children,  Gaby aged 9 and Harry aged 5 who are now being looked after by their Father Gary Klust.

Gary Klust said  “It’s a Fantastic idea to raise funds and awareness of this terrible disease.  Shell would be so very proud of you all and she’s greatly missed by us all”

Alison Theobald went on to say “We need to change the statistics around Brain Tumour and associated research.  It is a devastating disease and is taking too many young lives. We all loved “Shell” so much, she was the life and soul of any party and we miss her terribly.  We are determined to do something positive and raise both awareness and funds in her memory, “together we will find a cure “

Other events will include fundraising parties, a Golf Day, Race Night and Cake Bake Sales.

Many local businesses have also joined in with Shells Belles, Sherrens Printers in conjunction with Crossworks designed the Shells Belles logo and are printing fundraising materials,  Popcorn Marketing will be helping with PR and Pennywise  and Specsavers have already confirmed Company Sponsorship.
