Warm welcome at summer open day
Prospective students and employers flocked to Weymouth College’s first on campus summer open day in two years.
They were among the many visitors to tour departments, browse stands, meet staff, enjoy entertainment and find out about courses.
The college’s newly redeveloped Higher Education Centre, cutting-edge media suites and centres of excellence for motor vehicle, construction and the built environment and engineering were among the facilities on show.
Martin Oliver, Head of Curriculum, said: “The open day was a great success with a mixture of visitors coming through the doors.
“They included parents and prospective students considering A Levels, T Levels, apprenticeships and BTEC courses as well as employers seeking to find out more about higher education courses to help with their business needs and skills training up to degree level.
“It was great to showcase the newly redeveloped Higher Education Centre for students on our range of foundation degrees, degrees, HND and HNC courses.”
Martin added: “We were pleased to provide information to prospective students and employers on the day and accept enrolments too.
“Enrolments are still open for many courses so it is not too late to find out more information about what is on offer for September 2022.”
Information about adult and leisure courses was also available at the open day. In addition, there was music from the college band and a barbecue with donations in aid of Ukraine.
Principal and Chief Executive Julia Howe, Vice Principal Phil Templeton and Vice Principal Kelly Bush were among the members of the College’s senior leadership team to welcome students.
Weymouth College runs more than 250 courses for over 3,000 students, including access to higher education courses, university level degrees and Higher National Diplomas in partnership with the University of Plymouth and Pearson.
Weymouth College has a ‘good’ Ofsted rating and recorded a very good overall satisfaction rate in the 2021 National Student Survey.
